The Greased Up Deaf Guy is one of the more wacky (and that’s saying a lot) recurring characters on Family Guy. Here are a few facts about everyone’s favorite hearing-impaired fella:

The Greased-up Deaf Guy first appeared in Family Guy during the Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory company picnic. One of the contests at the picnic (and Peter’s favorite) is to catch the Greased-up Deaf Guy. He is released from a cage saying “you’re wasting your time! Forget about it! You’re never gonna catch me! See you next year!” in a high pitched voice, and running off into the forest.

He returned in “North by North Quahog” when he gave Brian some drugs to plant on Jake Tucker. He used to be a lawyer.

In Model Misbehavior he his seen causing trouble in Mort Goldman’s pharmacy when lois is getting her developed modeling pictures back from Mort. Mort says that he is nothing but trouble and every-time the greased up deaf guy comes into the pharmacy Mort drives him out with a broom.

Has been featured in several cameos since his first appearance in “The Thin White Line”. He can speak well, but somewhat out of tone, accentuating his parody of the hearing-impaired. He asks only that people “Don’t judge me, I’m just doing my thing!” He is always shown running, even when stopped he will continue to run in place and flail his arms. Voiced by Mike Henry.

Interview with Family Guy writer Mike Henry

24 Hours Vancouver has a really good interview up with Mike Henry, one of the original Family Guy writers and also the voice of many of the characters on the show, including Cleveland Brown, Herbert the Pervert, Bruce (the effeminate voice guy), and the Greased Up Deaf Guy. Here’s a snippet:

Were there story ideas that the Fox censors just wouldn’t allow?

Henry: They really kind of let us do a lot. There are words and horrific sexual slurs that you can’t say on TV which we all understand – they’re funny when you hear them, but you can’t say them on TV. But for the most part, they really let a lot ride. We’ll go ahead and produce jokes that we know can’t air just for the DVDs. The one that I wish we could have done was actually in the DVD movie: Meg had had a sex change. She was a man and the joke was that she had had an “addadicktomy.” The censors said “No way!”

Catch The Greased Up Deaf Guy

In one of the more offensive…oh, my word, who am I kidding. EVERYTHING on Familiy Guy is offensive to someone, right? Am I right?

Anywho, you can play Catch The Greased Up Deaf Guy game:

“You are peter griffin and you have to chase and catch the greased up deaf guy, but watch out he’s slippery so be sure to tighten your grip on that guy or he’ll just slide away.”

The Greased Up Deaf Guy appeared in these episodes: Fast Times at Buddy Cianci High, North by North Quahog, The Thin White Line, and the Stewie Griffin movie. Not really sure about the story behind the Greased Up Deaf Guy; I think I heard somewhere that he used to be a lawyer, but I’m not totally sure.
