I was lucky enough to participate in a conference call with Lauren Conrad, who will be featured prominently in May 3’s new Family Guy episode, “We Love You Conrad.” Here’s a few snippets from the call:

On being a fan of the show:

Yes, I am a fan of the show. I’ve watched it for years. My favorite character is Stewie, and I, a while ago, did – I only did a few lines, but I did a couple lines on an episode where they were watching television, and they did a clip of Laguna Beach, and that’s how I met Seth and the first time I got to do the show.

On seeing herself as a cartoon character:

It’s fun. I mean, that’s actually the most exciting part is to see what you look like animated. I think that I was basically just a blonde character though in this episode.

On the Family Guy character she identifies with most:

I don’t know. I don’t know if there’s someone I really want to be like on that show. Maybe Lois. I don’t know. I feel like she’s the most normal.

On her character in the episode:

A little bit. I don’t know if it’s necessarily me or just the reputation of an average reality star they were going for, but the idea in the episode is that, I mean they basically make fun of me for being dumb, and then he discovers that I’m actually a genius and that it’s kind of a character I play because America likes dumb people, so that’s kind of the idea of it. I think it’s a more exaggerated version of who I am, but it was kind of fun to play.

On hiring an ACTING COACH to do this episode (wtf?)

No, I stuck to the script, actually. I think that their writing is probably a lot better than what I would come up with, but I did have to actually hire an acting coach just for the day to kind of get me through it because a lot of the lines later on in the episode I did are very complicated. I’m talking a lot about history and theorems and conductors and just there’s a lot of facts and a lot of big words, and I had to say it as if it was coming to me very easily, so I had to learn the lines ahead of time rather than just reading them. So I actually had to research some of them because my – the acting coach I worked with told me that if I really understood what I was talking about, it would come through a little more true.

So overall, a pretty good call. She really is a ditzy blonde girl, though, make no mistake. This episode will air May 3, 2009.

Peter has his palm read by a psychic who reveals that he had a fascinating past life as Griffin Peterson, a dignified gentleman who vied for the love of Lady Redbush in 17th century England and in the newly founded American colony of Quahog. It was a time of great love and adventure where King Stewart reigned supreme, the smartest dog in the room was the court jester, army lieutenants were merely boys and even old England loved “How I Met Your Mother” (Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris and Josh Radnor guest-voice).

“Three Kings” – Season Finale

After Peter discovers the writing of Stephen King, he imagines his family and friends in three of King’s most famous works. First, Peter, Quagmire, Cleveland and Joe – as 12-year-olds – travel along a railroad track on a journey of self-discovery narrated by Richard Dreyfuss (guest-voicing as himself). Second, Brian is injured in a bad car crash only to be “rescued” by his “number one fan,” Stewie. Finally, Cleveland and Peter become fast friends in prison.

Awesome, right? I’ll put up the rest of the Fox animation schedule for May tomorrow, but I thought you’d like to hear about the new FG episodes first. :>)
