November 8 recap: American Dad, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show

Last night was pretty much a Seth Sweep on Fox. Let’s get right to it:

American Dad, “Man in the Moonbounce”:

Good. American Dad is getting better every week, while Family Guy, while better than last season’s dismal showing, is still sputtering. Here’s a clip:

Family Guy, “Brian’s Got a Brand New Bag”:

Why, Meg has an evil monkey too!?!? Miley Cyrus robot was good, too. I couldn’t find any clips up, but I’ll post them as I get them

Family Guy, “Quagmire’s Baby”:

VERY good! No clips up for this one up as yet, but the whole Stewie interaction with his evil clone was priceless.

The Cleveland Show, “Cleveland Jr. Cherry Bomb”:

I didn’t catch this one, actually, but here’s a clip: Cleveland Junior’s Cherry Bomb. If you watched it, what did you think?

Overall, a pretty good night for Fox Animation and Seth MacFarlane.

What did you think of “Family Goy”?

I think Seth MacFarlane is determined to get Family Guy firmly back on track after Season 7’s dismal showing, because Family Goy was pretty dang good.

Highlights:

HOW in the world does Quagmire not know about Internet porn? Is that even possible? Coming out with that huge Popeye arm….neighbor Joe talking about the infamous Tonya Harding video (ew)….classic.
What the heck was that “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose” stuff? Another sitcom from the ’80’s finds new life with FG.
The Superhero beginning: “and Meg.”
A lot of the references were pretty obscure this time around. Did anyone catch what the one was with Peter sitting on the windowsill shooting (hint: the movie was a Steven Spielberg production).

Overall, I was pretty pleased with Family Goy, and I’m glad to see this season really getting off on a good foot.

What did you think of “Road to the Multiverse”?

Well, in my opinion, Family Guy is back, baby!

After a somewhat disappointing Season 7, Family Guy roared back to life in the premiere episode on September 27, titled “Road to the Multiverse.”

Highlights:

All the different multiverses (Disney and the weird pooping one were my favorites)
Quantum Leap references
Finally a shout out to Seth Green’s Robot Chicken
Sexy Meg FINALLY
As the fifth “Road to….” episode, this one definitely held its own

In a word, “Road to the Multiverse” was awesome. I admit I was a bit nervous to watch the premiere after last year’s lackluster offerings, but this MORE than made up for it.

Quick -watch it before it gets taken down! Here is the trailer for the highly anticipated “Something Something Dark Side” episode, a parody of “Empire Strikes Back“. Lots of good Hoth footage, Leia (Lois) giving Han (Peter) a hard time, and Stewie as Darth Vader fighting Chris as Luke (”come on, Luke, join the Dark Side…it’s really cool!). Watch:

Something Something Dark Side is now available for pre-order at Amazon!

Well, this was somewhat of a surprise – Something Something Dark Side, the highly anticipated parody of Empire Strikes Back, is now available for pre-order at Amazon. Here’s what we can expect:

It won’t actually be available until December 22, 2009, but you can pre-order it now at a discount.

Just one disc will be included, and the episode will run a whopping 44 minutes (w00t!).

It’s not rated (which means there will be lots of naughty words).
