“Family Gay” – the full episode and review

Okay, so what did you think of “Family Gay”? I have to admit I thought it was one of the weakest Family Guy episodes EVER. I don’t think I laughed even once, and that’s pretty rare for me.

The episode started with Peter buying a “special” horse that ate up all their extra money, so Peter decides to work for some extra money by participating in a medical experiment. He’s injected with the “gay gene” and fully embraces this new persona, moving in with his boyfriend Steve, cooking, not having sex with Lois, and a whole bunch of really stereotypical gay jokes that really fell flat.

Finally, Brian takes pity on Lois and him and Stewie kidnap Peter and force him into a straight camp, where he’s told to beat up a fellow camper with baseball bats. Pretty much goes on in the same vein from there, with predictably Peter recovering from the gay gene right in the middle of a gay orgy.

Honestly? The whole thing felt recycled, with even the same cancelled Fox shows joke at the beginning. This could have been so much better.

Four clips from the March 8 episode of Family Guy, “Family Gay”

Fox has just released four new clips from this weekend’s episode titled Family Gay:
Peter is injected with the gay gene as part of a scientific experiment to determine whether or not homosexuality is a learned trait or something that people are born with. He ends up in a gay relationship and winds up in a straight camp. Meanwhile Jasper and Ricardo get a divorce.

In this first clip, Peter and Lois find out that Peter has been injected with the gay gene:

In this second clip, Peter goes to the market and buys a horse:

In this third clip, Peter finds out why that horse was such a good deal. This one is the best of the bunch:

And last, Stewie makes friends with the horse. Kind of.

Honestly, these clips make me VERY excited to see this new episode – all of them were great!

Fox has just released the episode information for the Family Guy episode scheduled for March 8, 2009:

To help pay off his incredible debt, Peter participates in medical experiments to make some extra cash. First, he is injected with the “Seth Rogen” gene (guest voice Rogen) that “gives you the appearance of being funny even though you haven’t actually done anything funny.” Then he is injected with a gene that leads him to a new mate, leaving a broken-hearted Lois behind. Although the family is crushed, they quickly realize the most important thing is that Peter is happy in the all-new “Family Gay” episode of FAMILY GUY airing Sunday, March. 8 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Seth Rogen is primarily known for his work in Knocked Up, Superbad, Pineapple Express, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
