Family Guy and Microsoft are teaming up – no, seriously, they REALLY ARE.

Yes, it’s true – Seth MacFarlane has signed a deal with Microsoft to promote Windows 7 in a live action/comedy special due to air in November with fellow FG alumni Alex Borstein.

The show is titled “Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show,”, and will have no commercials, but they will weave in Windows 7 promo spots that are supposed to “blend seamlessly with show content”, which I’m guessing will be funny gags of various Family Guy characters trying out the new Microsoft operating system.

The Family Guy/Microsoft duo isn’t stopping there, though. They’re also embarking on a 12 week college tour that will give approximately 4.3 million college students the chance to try out Windows 7 and see how much it either rocks or sucks (anything is better than Vista). The tour will also feature entertainment like outdoor movie nights hosted by “Family Guy’s” Stewie and Brian, online videos, and other “Family Guy” content.

What do you think? Good idea? I’m guessing that Microsoft is betting on FG’s popularity with young males in their twenties to boost sales of their newest OS, but I believe their biggest problem is going to be washing the taste of Vista out of our collective mouths.

This is actually from May, but I don’t think it’s been posted. Highlights: Seth got an angry phone call from Ellen Cleghorne for a joke, his old school principal tried to get Family Guy off the air, he wants to open up a coffee shop when he grows up (yeah right), he goes over his 9/11 story, how FG is NOT vanilla, he wants to offend everyone so nobody feels left out, religious figures are the ones most offended (which motivates him to do more), the “Freakin Sweet” show with Alex Borstein, and a bit of inane chatter. Watch:

No Emmy win for Family Guy this year

Dark horse Family Guy lost out to “30 Rock” in the 2009 Emmy race. Here’s a video of Seth MacFarlane at the Emmy’s:

NBC’s 30 Rock won the category for the third year in a row, beating out a seven-show field of contenders for the honor. The other nominees were Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, How I Met Your Mother, The Office and Weeds.

Seth MacFarlane performs “Singin’ In the Rain” – watch!

Okay, this is just too awesome: here’s Seth MacFarlane performing the hit song “Singin’ in the Rain” from the musical of the same name. You might notice as soon as the music from the John Wilson Orchestra starts up, a few of the “promenaders” near the stage open up umbrellas and twirl them around much to the amusement of some orchestra members at the front and a few of the Maida Vale Singers at the back. This performance was in A Celebration of Classic MGM Film Musicals which was part of BBC Proms 2009 broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 1st August 2009 on BBC 2. The voiceovers are host Clive Anderson and Debbie Wiseman.

Seth MacFarlane talks about the end of Family Guy

Yes – it’s coming, and it probably will be in the next couple of years. Here’s what Seth Macfarlane had to say about the ending of Family Guy:

“I don’t want to go 20 years like The Simpsons,” MacFarlane told Sun Media. “Ideally we would go another couple of years and then wrap it up. That would be my perfect scenario.

“I mean, I can already see it coming. I can already see the … we’re in season eight, and it gets harder, it gets harder and harder to do new stuff. I mean, every show starts to suck after a certain point. And we could already be there for all I know, I don’t know.”

I actually agree with this, as much as I would love to see them keep going. FG is one of those shows that you have to be very careful to not drag out too long, it loses it’s “edge”, if that makes any sense. What do you think?
