Family Guy movie is still “years away”

While a Family Guy movie is definitely in the works, Seth MacFarlane confirms that it’s going to be a long wait:
Seth MacFarlane has hinted that a big screen version of Family Guy could be on the cards, but not any time soon.
The creator and voice artist of the cult US cartoon comedy was speaking at a news conference for the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal over the weekend.
Although the team ventured into feature length adventure for the Griffin Family last year with Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin The Untold Story, the cartoon got a very limited cinema release and found its home on DVD.
However, with the upcoming Simpsons movie about to hit the big screen, a journalist from the Hollywood Reporter had to ask MacFarlane about the future of Quahog’s finest family.
MacFarlane revealed that although members of the production team are considering a feature-length film, but there is currently no plot idea or script.
He went on to explain that the logistical challenge of making a movie while meeting the demanding deadlines of the TV version is also a problem. Plus, even if a team to work on the movie is found, the final product would take years to produce, he added.
At the news conference MacFarlane was also asked about writing comedy in a post 9/11world, to which he remarked that a n appropriate amount of time has passed since the attacks, and you can see that some television shows, like Saturday Night Live, have slowly begun to make jokes about terrorism.
